🇦🇷 Javier Milei has found himself in hot water following the collapse of a cryptocurrency he promoted on Valentine’s Day. The polarizing 54-year old President of Argentina, who has seen his support hold steady in the face of dropping inflation and a stabilizing national economy, was dealt his first “serious embarrassment” when a cryptocurrency he endorsed on X (formerly Twitter) soared in value before cratering. Over a hundred criminal complaints have been filed against him.

🇧🇷 Jair Bolsonaro, the controversial former President of Brazil (2019-2022), has officially been charged with planning a coup d'état in his final months in office to prevent the transition of power to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2023-present). Bolsonaro and 33 co-defendants are charged with plotting to both poison Lula and shoot dead Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Bolsonaro has already been barred from running for political office until 2030 owing to his previous statements attacking the country’s democracy—he now faces the serious risk of prison time.
